Make this easy whipped hot chocolate for a luxurious, creamy drink perfect for cozy winter evenings. This recipe focuses on creating a fluffy chocolate topping that floats over warm milk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups milk (whole or preferred type)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder.
  2. Use an electric mixer or a whisk to beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. This creates your fluffy whipped topping. This usually takes 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Gently stir the vanilla extract into the whipped topping, if using.
  4. Warm your milk in a saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  5. Pour the warm milk into two mugs.
  6. Spoon the chocolate whipped topping generously over the top of the warm milk in each mug.
  7. Serve immediately as a cozy winter drink or indulgent chocolate treat.

Notes

  • For an iced version, use cold milk instead of warm milk.
  • You can substitute the powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup for a slightly different flavor profile.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
