Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (slurry)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Season the chicken thighs lightly with salt and pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs and cook for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Stir in the red pepper flakes, if using.
Whisk the cornstarch and cold water together to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring constantly. Continue to cook until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
Return the cooked chicken thighs to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the chicken completely in the sticky honey garlic sauce.
Serve immediately over rice or with steamed vegetables for a complete family favorite chicken dinner.
Notes
For extra crispy honey garlic chicken, you can lightly dust the chicken thighs with cornstarch before searing.
If you prefer baked chicken thighs, bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes before glazing them in the sauce on the stovetop.
This sweet savory glaze chicken pairs well with steamed broccoli or white rice.
