Make this simple, zesty avocado sauce in under 10 minutes. It is perfect as a creamy taco topping, dip, or drizzle for bowls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 cup water (or more for thinner consistency)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  2. Add the cilantro, water, lime juice, garlic, salt, and pepper to the food processor.
  3. Process the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired drizzling consistency.
  5. Taste the avocado sauce and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
  6. Serve immediately as a creamy avocado dip or taco topping sauce.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, substitute 2 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt for 2 tablespoons of the water.
  • If you want a spicier kick, add half a small jalapeño (seeds removed) to the blender.
  • This sauce works well as a dairy free avocado sauce for bowls or salads.
