Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
In a large bowl, toss the trimmed Brussels sprouts with the olive oil, salt, and pepper until they are evenly coated.
Spread the sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary to promote crisping.
Roast for 15 minutes.
While the sprouts roast, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the pure maple syrup, fresh orange juice, and orange zest until fully combined.
Remove the sprouts from the oven. Drizzle half of the orange maple glaze over the sprouts and gently toss them on the pan to coat.
Return the sprouts to the oven and roast for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sprouts are tender inside and caramelized on the outside.
Remove from the oven. Drizzle the remaining glaze over the hot sprouts immediately before serving.
Notes
For added texture, toss 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts onto the pan during the last 5 minutes of roasting.
If you prefer a deeper flavor, use dark robust maple syrup instead of the standard grade.
You can make the glaze ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Warm it slightly before using.
