Make a comforting, cheesy lasagna with minimal effort using your Instant Pot. This recipe skips the boiling and baking, giving you classic Italian flavor fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup water or broth
  • 9 oven-ready lasagna noodles, broken into thirds
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Set your Instant Pot to the Sauté function. Add the ground meat and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the Italian seasoning and garlic powder with the meat. Cook for one minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the marinara sauce and water or broth. Stir gently to combine everything at the bottom of the pot.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Place half of the broken lasagna noodles directly on top of the sauce mixture. Do not stir them in.
  6. Carefully dollop half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  7. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer.
  8. Repeat the layers: remaining noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, and remaining mozzarella cheese.
  9. Pour 1/2 cup of water around the edges of the pot, avoiding the cheese layers.
  10. Secure the lid and set the vent to Sealing. Cook on High Pressure for 8 minutes.
  11. When the cooking time finishes, allow for a Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a Quick Release for any remaining pressure.
  12. Remove the lid. Let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes before serving directly from the pot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for beef for a lighter meal.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, reduce the water/broth to 3/4 cup.
  • For an extra cheesy top, sprinkle a little more Parmesan cheese after serving.
