Make this rich, creamy beer cheese dip that tastes just like your favorite pub appetizer. This warm, velvety dip uses sharp cheddar and your favorite beer, pairing perfectly with soft pretzels or chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup lager beer (or preferred beer)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Slowly pour in the beer while stirring constantly until the cheeses begin to melt together smoothly.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Continue to stir until the dip is completely smooth and heated through, about 5 to 8 minutes. Do not let it boil.
  5. Remove from heat and serve immediately with soft pretzels, chips, or vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • For a thicker dip, reduce the amount of beer slightly.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper with the seasonings.
  • This dip is best served warm. If it cools, gently reheat it on the stovetop over low heat, stirring often.
