Make this crunchy Asian cabbage slaw with a tangy sesame ginger dressing. It is a fast and fresh side dish perfect for any meal.

  • 6 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and green onions in a large bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, honey or maple syrup, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes until well combined. This is your best Asian slaw dressing.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture.
  4. Toss everything together until the vegetables are evenly coated.
  5. For best flavor, cover the slaw and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve this quick cabbage side dish cold.

Notes

  • For added crunch, add 1/4 cup of toasted sesame seeds or chopped peanuts just before serving.
  • If you want a creamier texture, add 2 tablespoons of peanut butter to the dressing mixture.
